During a bizarre appearance before reporters yesterday while flanked by Don King, Donald Trump gave a stunningly ignorant answer when asked about the Russian hack and election meddling.

Trump’s answer regarding Russian hack is stunningly ignorant
When asked about the consequences the Russians should face, Trump said, “I think we ought to get on with our lives.”
Trump who hasn’t held a press conference in months appeared in front of cameras briefly standing next to boxing promoter convicted murderer Don King. Trump then said, “I think that computers have complicated lives very greatly. The whole age of computer has made it where nobody knows exactly what is going on. We have speed, we have a lot of other things, but I’m not sure we have the kind the security we need. But I have not spoken with the senators and I will certainly will be over a period of time.”
The response from Trump is baffling on multiple levels. First, Trump clearly is not interested in serving up any consequences for the Russian hack. And second, Trump shared a stunningly ignorant response about computers, technology and hacking – suggesting he does not understand the systems at play.

U.S. intelligence agencies have been very clear in suggesting who they think is responsible for the election hack. The FBI, CIA and the director of national intelligence have agreed that Russia interfered in the 2016 elections to help Trump win the election over Hillary Clinton. And as has been reported by NBC News, intelligence officials have “a high level of confidence” that Putin was personally involved in the election hack.
Trump has long flirted with Putin, going far out of his way to praise him during the 2016 campaign. And after the election, Trump has strongly resisted joining the criticism over the Russian hack. Trump has said that the idea that Russia tried to help him win the election is “ridiculous.”
“Nobody really knows, and hacking is very interesting,” he said on “Fox News Sunday” earlier in December. “Once they hack, if you don’t catch them in the act you’re not going to catch them. They have no idea if it’s Russia or China or somebody. It could be somebody sitting in a bed someplace. I mean, they have no idea.”
