According a report in Politico, “California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, approached chairman Chuck Grassley last week with her request: to allow Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and other CBC members to appear before the committee to discuss Sessions’ nomination to be the nation’s top cop, according to two sources.”

Politico quoted Senator Feinstein saying, “I was pleased when Chairman Grassley agreed to make this possible, however I regret that they will have to wait until after a nine-member panel speaks. Asking three members of Congress to sit and wait until the end of the hearing to testify — likely at the same time the Senate will be holding important budget votes — is deeply unfair.”

Senator Cory Booker will also be testifying against Sessions saying “I do not take lightly the decision to testify against a Senate colleague. But the immense powers of the attorney general combined with the deeply troubling views of this nominee is a call to conscience.”
