Donald Trump just announced he wants health “insurance for everybody”
Donald Trump may have just thrown the Republican plan to repeal Obamacare into chaos. During an interview with the Washington Post, Trump said that he has a plan to replace Obamacare that is coming soon and that it will provide “insurance for everybody.”
“We’re going to have insurance for everybody,” Trump told the Washington Post. “There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us.”
Trump provided few details on how he will pay for insurance for everybody but he did say that he plans to negotiate drug prices with Medicaid and Medicare providers., putting him at odds with most Republicans on the issue.

However, Trump’s plan would run against his own party on this issue. It is also unclear how Trump’s new plan for replacing will fit with the current discussions underway among Republican lawmakers who are racing to repeal Obamacare without a plan for replacement.
Trump’s statement about “insurance for everybody ” also comes as some Republicans have begun to show they are concerned about repealing Obamacare without a replacement.
Trump went on to say about his healthcare plan “It’s not going to be their plan,” referring to the people covered under the current law. “It’ll be another plan. But they’ll be beautifully covered. I don’t want single-payer. What I do want is to be able to take care of people.”
Donald Trump’s incoming White House communications director Sean Spicer seemed to quickly walk back the idea that Trump and Republicans are planning to expand government’s role in providing healthcare to people. Spicer said, “There’s a lot of ways that we can bring the cost and access to health care way down to ensure that people actually get additional plans to chose from, more doctors in the system and health care at a much cheaper option than it is currently.”
