Senator. Elizabeth Warren used the Senate committee hearing yesterday to make sure everyone knows that Donald Trump’s secretary of education nominee Betsy DeVos has no experience whatsoever for the position.
Trump’s pick for secretary of education is particularly controversial because Betsy DeVos has no education experience, has never attended public school nor have her children, and she has spent years donating millions of dollars to Republicans and trying to privatize public education. In fact, as the Huffington Post said, “She’s been a longtime advocate of school choice and has donated millions to conservative politicians and causes, including programs that fight against marriage equality and LGBTQ rights.”

On her Facebook page, Senator Elizabeth Warren posted the following: “Tonight at her confirmation hearing, I asked Betsy DeVos a straight forward set of questions about her education experience and commitment to protecting students cheated by for-profit colleges. If Betsy DeVos can’t commit to using the Department of Education’s many tools and resources to protect students from fraud, I don’t see how she can be the Secretary of Education.”
