In the first full day of the Trump administration, Donald Trump and his press secretary made it clear they will be trying to bully the media into giving them more favorable coverage.
VIDEO: Trump press secretary tries to bully the media for inauguration crowd coverage
On Saturday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer held a press briefing to accuse the media of intentionally misrepresenting the crowd at Donald Trump’s inauguration in order to reduce enthusiasm for the event.
Spicer said, “This was the largest audience ever to witness an inauguration, period. Both in person and around the globe.”
However, the issue with Sean Spicer’s statement is that it is totally false. And it begins what many have been worried about with a Trump presidency that they will intentionally try to dismantle freedom of the press.
Also alarming is that Sean Spicer did not take questions after delivering his remarks.
One of the excuses that Donald Trump’s press secretary used was something about white floor covering that supposedly made Trump’s crowd look smaller.
According to D.C. Metro estimates, ridership for Saturday’s Women’s March was 275,000 by 11 a.m. while the ridership as of 11 a.m. on Trump’s Inauguration Day was only 193,000.
