Trump’s CIA visit made relations with intel community worse
There is growing evidence that Donald Trump’s bizarre rant in front of the CIA’s Wall of Start has made relations between Trump and the intelligence community worse.
According to CBS, “U.S. government sources tell CBS News that there is a sense of unease in the intelligence community after President Trump’s visit to CIA headquarters on Saturday. An official said the visit ‘made relations with the intelligence community worse’ and described the visit as ‘uncomfortable.'”
Donald Trump brought friendly crowd To CIA visit
The CBS News report goes on to say that officials are “pushing back against the perception that the CIA workforce was cheering for the president. They say the first three rows in front of the president were largely made up of supporters of Mr. Trump’s campaign.”
CBS went on to report that Trump and team brought about 40 people with them to the speech.
Intelligence officials offended by Trump speech
Intelligence sources told CBS that many members of the intelligence community rank and file “were stunned and at times offended by the president’s tone which seemed to evolve into a version of speeches he’d used on the campaign trail.”
Trump’s visit to the CIA’s Wall of Stars (the memorial monument to CIA officers killed in the line of duty) was meant the help repair damaged relations between him and the intelligence community he recently compared to “Nazi Germany.” But instead, Trump spent the majority of the time complaining about the media’s coverage of his crowd size and claiming that he feels very young.
