WATCH: Robert Reich says Trump’s border tax idea is ‘stupid’
The Trump administration announced on Thursday that Donald Trump plans to pay for his border wall with Mexico by implementing a 20% import tax.
Robert Reich, during a segment on MSNBC Thursday morning, slammed Trump’s border tax idea as potentially dangerous for the American economy.
Reich said, “A lot of American companies would be penalized” by Trump’s boarder tax. “American companies have — they send some of their components to Mexico and then they assemble them in Mexico, and then they send them back to the United States. So American companies are going to hate that.”
And Reich added, “American workers are also consumers. And American consumers are going to be paying much more for a lot of goods and even some services that come from Mexico.”
