Trump just fired the entire State Department management team
CNN is reporting that on Thursday the Trump administration informed four of the top State Department management officials. The firings are reportedly part of a “cleaning house” by the Trump administration at the State Department.
The four fired employees are: Patrick Kennedy, who served for nine years as the undersecretary for management, Joyce Anne Barr and Michele Bond, Assistant Secretaries for Administration and Consular Affairs and Ambassador Gentry Smith, director of the Office for Foreign Missions.
It is customary for new administrations to keep these kinds of career officials on for at least a few months and at least until successors are named.
According to one senior State Department official that spoke with CNN, “Any implication that these four people quit is wrong. These people are loyal to the secretary, the President and to the State Department. There is just not any attempt here to dis the President. People are not quitting and running away in disgust. This is the White House cleaning house.”
