Donald Trump’s Muslim and refugee ban has created chaos at airports in the U.S. and around the world. In addition to the chaos, Trump’s move has also sparked significant resistance as thousands of protesters have gathered at JFK and other airports around the country.
Trump’s ban applies both to people from predominantly Muslim countries – though not the ones the 9/11 attackers are from – and refugees around the world including non-Muslims. Protests have erupted at JFK airport in New York and San Francisco International airport.
The protestors held signs saying “no ban, no wall” and “refugees welcome” in front of the international terminal area on Saturday afternoon.
A lawyer and refugee advocate who helped organize the protest said, “We’re here to tell Trump that we are not going anywhere. Today is the beginning of a long opposition from us, and our neighbors all over the country.”
