Donald Trump Nominates “Mini Scalia” Neil Gorsuch to Supreme Court
In an unsurprising turn of events, Donald Trump nominated a Supreme Court Justice who will fit right into Antonin Scalia’s conservative record.
Gorsuch is a federal appeals judge from Denver and is 49 – which means he could tout his conservative ideals for many years on the bench.
While Trump’s nominee helped calm conservatives, Democrats are ready to fight this nomination. If Gorsuch is on the bench, Roe v. Wade is under attack, the right for women to choose is under attack, gay marriage may even be under attack.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer tweeted a series of tweets immediately after Trump nominated Gorsuch:
Now more than ever, we need a Justice who is independent, eschews ideology, who will preserve our democracy & protect fundamental rights.

Gorsuch put corps over workers, been hostile toward women’s rights & been an ideolog. Skeptical that he can be a strong, independent Justice

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi also chimed in:
Judge Gorsuch’s radical views on women’s rights are deeply troubling to everyone fighting to #ProtectOurCare https://t.co/TDU2FufoKx
