In what was meant to be a statement about Black History Month, Donald Trump spent roughly 95% of his statement on an insane, rambling rant about pretty much everything but Black History Month.
Trump, in his remarks, spent about 25 awkward seconds talking black history, before veering into his rambling and out of touch statement which lasted about 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Trump cited Frederick Douglass “as an example of somebody who has done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more.” It seems obvious from that statement that Donald Trump has no idea who Frederick Douglass is or what he is being recognized for.
He at one point praised his friend from the Apprentice, Omarosa.
Trump, of course, spent a significant amount of time talking about the election and falsely claimed that he did much better than other recent candidates when it comes to the African American vote. Which again is not true.
And Trump again, awkwardly brought up what he thinks to be exclusively black issues by talking about the inner cities, crime and education.
Here is how Twitter is responding:
Trump just described Frederick Douglass as "someone who has done a terrific job that is being recognized by more and more people"

President Trump has noticed this guy Frederick Douglass, who "has done an amazing job." Really. https://t.co/dO1i3fH8tm pic.twitter.com/dPV8PmDzVT

Credit where due: Frederick Douglass did, indeed, do an "amazing job." The President is right on that.
