Donald Trump will return to his Florida resort for a third straight weekend. Trump in the past has referred to his Mar-a-Lago resort as the “Winter White House.”

Traditionally, it is assumed that presidents are always working, even when they are on vacation. However, Donald Trump’s decision to spend three weekends in a row during his first month in office on vacation seems to be raising eyebrows and frankly questions. Particularly because Donald Trump’s chosen vacation spot is a resort that he owns where members pay hefty fees to enter and now get access to the president.

It also begs the question of whether the work of the presidency can be done in a resort with hundreds or thousands of resort guests surrounding the president.

Trump’s last trip to Mar-a-Lago wasn’t without controversy. Trump came under fire for having a national security meeting in front of an open room of diners.

After North Korea launched an intermediate-range ballistic missile, Donald Trump received a call about it in the middle of dinner with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Donald Trump chose to take the phone call in the middle of his Mar-a-Lago dining room.

Politico reported recently that one of Trump’s weekend visits to Mar-a-Lago likely costs taxpayers more than $3 million.
