White House Is Having Trouble Keeping Its Story Straight
On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Tuesday faced a torrent of questions from the press about Michael Flynn’s resignation. And in Spicer’s answers to the press, he seemed to contradict the previous accounts from Donald Trump and other White House officials.
Flynn resigned Monday night amid questions over his contact with Russian government officials.
Spicer tried to suggest that the reason for Flynn’s exit was an “erosion of trust.” “We’ve been reviewing and evaluating this issue with respect to General Flynn on a daily basis for a few weeks trying to ascertain the truth,” Spicer said.
That statement from Spicer directly contradicts Donald Trump’s statement on Friday when he said on aboard Air Force One that he was not aware of the Washington Post report on potential concerns over Russian blackmailing.
