Donald Trump hit another set back Wednesday when his pick to replace his former national security adviser Michael Flynn told the president he could not accept the position. CBS News and others reported that Vice Admiral Robert Harward has declined the offer to be Trump’s national security adviser.
And according to reporting in the Financial Times, Trump is trying to convince retired Robert Harward to change his mind after he turned down the position.
Foreign Policy reported that Trump was “a bit surprised when Harward responded by saying he needed a couple of days to think it over.”
The Financial Times report noted that Harward was concerned about whether the top advisers in Trump’s administration would allow him to install his own staff on the National Security Council.
