George W. Bush Disagrees With Trump Says Media Is ‘Indispensable’
On Monday, during an interview with Matt Lauer on the Today Show, former President George W. Bush broke with Donald Trump’s characterization of the media as the enemy of the American people saying the news media is “indispensable.”
Bush said, “I consider the media to be indispensable to democracy…Power can be very addictive.”
Bush continued, “We need an independent media to hold people like me to account.”
The former president was being asked if he agreed with Donald Trump’s characterization of the media as the enemy of the people.
“It’s kind of hard to tell others to have an independent free press when we’re not willing to have one ourselves,” Bush also said.
