AP: Trump White House Told To Preserve Russia-Related Documents
The Associated Press is reporting that the White House council’s office has instructed Trump’s White House staff to “preserve materials that could be connected to Russian interference in the 2016 election and related issues.”
The AP cited three administration officials who on Wednesday confirmed that council’s office sent a memo to White House staff on Tuesday which follows up on a request from Senate Democrats last week.
The request was to “keep all materials involving contacts that Trump’s administration, campaign and transition team — or anyone acting on their behalf — have had with Russian government officials or their associates. The Senate Intelligence Committee also made a similar request to the White House and agencies.”
In a separate request, the Senate Intelligence Committee last month asked federal agencies to keep materials that tie into its investigation into Russian election hacking case.
