Pence Used Personal Email For Official Business As Governor And Was hacked: Report
In today’s episode of what goes around comes around, Mike Pence is coming under fire for using a personal email while he was Governor of Indiana and potentially exposing sensitive information to hackers who penetrated his account.
While Mike Pence was serving as governor of Indiana, he apparently used a private email account to conduct state business. And according the a report by USA Today, that email account was hacked last summer. And according to the report, Pence’s use of the email account included sensitive issues and homeland security items.
The USA Today piece noted that Pence communicated via a personal AOL account with his top advisers which was reveled by a public records request. And the emails included sensitive topics including Indiana’s response to terror attacks and an FBI arrest of several men in federal terror-related case.
USA Today reported, “Emails released to The Indianapolis Star in response to a public records request show Pence communicated via his personal AOL account with top advisers on topics ranging from security gates at the governor’s residence to the state’s response to terror attacks across the globe. In one email, Pence’s top state homeland security adviser relayed an update from the FBI regarding the arrests of several men on federal terror-related charges.”
Pence of course, was a vocal critic of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email during her time as Secretary of State and accused her of trying to hide her emails from the public and risking classified information to hack.
