Two More Trump Associates Met With Russian Ambassador: Report
According to a new report, two other members of President Trump’s campaign team met with the Russian Ambassador during the Republican National Convention.
The USA Today reported Thursday that J.D. Gordon and Carter Page, who were both early Trump foreign policy advisers, met with the Russian ambassador in July at an event hosted by the conservative Heritage Foundation.
In addition to Page and Gordon, several other national security advisers for the Trump campaign were also at the event.
“I’d consider it an informal conversation just like my interactions with dozens of other ambassadors and senior diplomats in Cleveland,” Gordon told USA Today.
Page declined to give a comment saying, “I had no substantive discussions with him.”
It was revealed Wednesday that Attorney General Sessions also met with Kislyak during the event and has come under fire for lying during his senate confirmation hearing when he was asked about communications with Russia.
The report that Gordon and Page also met with Kislyak is just the latest in a string of news stories that connect Trump associates with Russian officials.
The New York Times reported Thursday that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who resigned last month after it was revealed that he discussed sanctions with Kislyak, also met with the Russian ambassador in person at Trump Tower.
Carter Page has extensive business ties to Russia and he worked with the Trump campaign from March to September of 2016.
