Obama Camp Responds To Trump Wiretap Accusations
An Obama spokesperson knocked down Donald Trump’s accusation of any Obama interference with Justice Department investigation.
“A cardinal rule of the Obama Administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice,” Kevin Lewis said in a statement.
“As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen,” he added. “Any suggestion otherwise is simply false.”

The Obama camp response is also notable for another reason, it seems to suggest that there was an independent investigation into Trump and team. The statement never denied that the wiretapping happened, just that Obama would never interfere with it or call for the surveillance himself.
The statement clearly leaves open the possibility that a FISA warrant exists for an investigation into Trump.
