Hundreds Of Marines Being Investigated For Posting Nude Photos Of Female Colleagues Online

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is investigating hundreds of Marines who solicited and shared hundreds of explicit photos of female Marines on social media.

A link to a Google Drive folder where the photos were being stored was posted to a Facebook group called Marines United, which has about 30,000 members.

Members of the Facebook group solicited others to submit photos of women without their knowledge.

According to the Washington Post, “The allegations were first reported by the War Horse and published Saturday through the website Reveal. The author, a Marine veteran and Purple Heart recipient, as well as members of his family, have received numerous death threats since the article was first published. It is unclear how many people are involved in the scandal and how many photos were posted online.”

Some of the photos posted online were taken surreptitiously without the women’s knowledge. Many of the comments that were posted with the photos included allusions to sexual assault and rape.
