Ohio Governor John Kasich Speaks Out Against Trumpcare
Ohio Governor John Kasich joined the growing list of Governors from both sides of the aisle who are voicing their unhappiness about the new Republican health plan. In Ohio, nearly 700,000 people have gained coverage through Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion.
“Phasing out Medicaid coverage without a viable alternative is counter-productive and unnecessarily puts at risk our ability to treat the drug addicted, mentally ill, and working poor who now have access to a stable source of care,” Kasich said in a statement Wednesday.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Kasich “has continued to laud the ways Medicaid expansion helps people to get coverage for medical treatments for mental health issues or drug addictions. Without the coverage, Kasich warns, adults with low incomes won’t get ongoing medical care, leading them to seek free treatment for life-threatening illnesses and accidents in Ohio’s emergency rooms – driving up the cost of health care.”
