Susan Collins: Obamacare Replacement Won’t Be ‘Well-Received’ In Senate
Republican Senator Susan Collins said on Wednesday that the House Republican plan for replacing Obamacare won’t be “well-received” when it gets to the Senate.
“I do not think it would be well-received in the Senate,” Collins told Yahoo News’ Katie Couric when asked if the bill was dead on arrival in the chamber.
“I want us to slow down and take more time to be sure we get this right,” she told Couric.
Collins also noted her strong support for helping low-income people which includes maintaining Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion.
“We should be trying to help very low-income afford health insurance,” she said.
Collins also said “she is concerned by analyses that estimate 6 million to 10 million people would lose their coverage under the bill and that older people’s premiums would rise,” according to Yahoo News.
