Obama Appointed US Attorney Bharara Refusing Trump Demand He Resign: Report
Multiple news outlets are reporting that Preet Bharara, United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, is refusing the Trump administration’s demand to resign.
On Friday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions asked the remaining 46 attorneys appointed by former President Obama to submit their resignations, including Bharara.
Bharara was asked by Trump and Sessions in November to stay on as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York – Bharara agreed to stay on.
“HOLDOVER: Bharara is not submitting his resignation, according to several ppl briefed – WH not responding to what they’ll do next,” the New York Times’s Maggie Haberman tweeted Saturday.
CNN’s Jake Tapper also reported that Bharara was refusing to resign.

On Friday, the Trump administration asked for the resignation of the 46 remaining Obama appointees, including Preet Bharara. The move also came as a surprise because the Trump administration has yet to name replacements for the 46 U.S. attorney, potentially leaving important case work in jeopardy.
