McCain: Trump Needs To Provide Evidence Or Retract Wiretap Claim; More Shoes To Drop On Russia Story
Senator John McCain on Sunday said Donald Trump needs to retract his claim that former President Obama wiretapped Trump Tower or provide evidence to back up his allegation.
“President Trump has to provide the American people, not just the intelligence community, but the American people, with evidence that his predecessor, former president of the Unites States was guilty of breaking the law,” McCain told CNN’s “State of the Union.”
McCain also said, “I have no reason to believe that the charge is true, but I also believe that the president of the Unites States could clear this up in a minute.”
Last weekend Donald Trump baselessly accused President Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower. News reports indicate that Trump’s accusation came after he read a story in the debunked Breitbart.
McCain: More shoes to drop on Russia story
Senator John McCain also said that he believes there will be more shoes to drop in the Russia saga.
As McCain noted, there continues to be new revelations that “members of the Trump family” and Trump associates met with Russian officials.
Senator McCain also pointed out Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort’s relationship with the pro-Russia former Ukrainian leader who McCain called the “stooge of Vladimir Putin.”
McCain also confirmed that he wants Trump associate Roger Stone to testify in the Russia investigation.
