Republican Senator: We Will Lose The House Majority If We Vote For This Health Plan
On Sunday, Republican Senator Tom Cotton warned his fellow Republicans in the House that the Republican Obamacare replacement bill can’t pass the Senate as it is written. And that if they vote for it, Republicans could lose their majority in the House.
“I’m afraid that if they vote for this bill, they’re going to put the House majority at risk next year,” Cotton said on ABC’s “This Week.” He warned that it would have “adverse consequences for millions of Americans” and wouldn’t lower costs: “Do not walk the plank and vote for a bill that cannot pass the Senate and then have to face the consequences of that vote.”
Cotton continued, “And I don’t want to see the House majority put at risk on a bill that is not going to pass the Senate. That’s why I think we should fake pause, try to solve as many as the problems on both Medicaid and the individual insurance market in this bill in the House and then allow the Senate to take its work up.”
