California Becomes 7th State To Sue Over Trump Muslim-Ban
The state of California has become the seventh state to sue over Donald Trump’s revised Muslim-ban.
The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that California Attorney General Xavier Becerra has joined six other states attorneys general to legally challenge the new Trump order.
California joins Washington, Maryland, New York, Oregon, Minnesota and Hawaii in asking Judge James Robart who blocked the first Muslim-ban to also block the new version.
However, Judge Robart said Friday that state attorneys they have to file their amended complaint first.
In a statement Becerra said the new order is still unconstitutional.
“The Trump administration may have changed the text of the now-discredited Muslim travel ban, but they didn’t change its unconstitutional intent and effect,” he said.
“It is still an attack on people — women and children, professors and business colleagues, seniors and civic leaders — based on their religion and national origin.”
