Federal Judge Blocks Trump’s Second Muslim-Ban
BREAKING.
A federal judge has blocked Donald Trump’s second Muslim-ban order. The Hawaii federal has issued a temporary restraining order barring the administration’s executive order from taking effect Thursday.
The state of Hawaii sued over the Muslim-ban and argued that Trump’s Muslim-ban and the refugee provisions violate due process rights and religious freedom protections.
U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson ruled that the plaintiffs, the state of Hawaii showed a “strong” likelihood to succeed in their lawsuit against the ban.
The judge knocked down the Trump administration’s argument saying, “The illogic of the Government’s contentions is palpable. The notion that one can demonstrate animus toward any group of people only by targeting all of them at once is fundamentally flawed.”
Trump’s second Muslim-ban was set to go into effect on Thursday March 16.
