House Intel Chair Confirms It’s ‘Very Possible’ Trump & Co “Swept Up” In Legal Surveillance

Some very important information regarding the Trump-Russia investigation was revealed Wednesday during a press conference by the ranking members of the House Intelligence Committee.

First, Chairman Nunes confirmed (what we all know) that he’s seen no evidence that backs up Trump’s claim that President Obama wiretapped Trump Tower.

However, the second piece of information is potentially the most important and it seems to being flying under the radar a bit.

The House Chairman suggested that it is “very possible” that Donald Trump or his associates were “swept up” in legal FBI surveillance of Russian officials because they were in communication.

“Are you going to take the tweets literally?” he asked. “If you are, then clearly the president is wrong.” However, Nunes also said that it’s “very possible” Trump’s communications were somehow “swept up” in FBI surveillance of Russians, if he was in communication with Kremlin authorities.

Congressman Nunes noted that this incidental surveillance of Trump associates could have occurred the same way that Michael Flynn was caught communicating with Russian officials. U.S. intelligence officials picked up Flynn’s inappropriate conversations because they were monitoring the Russian ambassador.

Congressman Nunes repeated a few times that it is “very possible” that Trump or his associates were picked up in legal counterintelligence surveillance the way that Michael Flynn was caught communicating inappropriately with the Russian ambassador during and after the campaign.
