Congressman Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, on Wednesday said that believes the White House doesn’t want former acting Attorney General Sally Yates to testify in front of Congress.
Schiff’s statement contradicts what the White House has said publically, that it wants Sally Yates to testify and that it is not trying to block her testimony.
During an interview on CNN with Wolf Blitzer Schiff said, “I think the reality is, Wolf, they don’t want to do the open hearing. They saw how the open hearing went on Monday and they don’t want to hear what Sally Yates has to say.”
“I don’t think, not withstanding what Sean Spicer says, that the White House wants to hear what Sally Yates has to say. But I think the country ought to hear from her.”
Congressman Nunes, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, this week abruptly canceled the planned public hearing which was scheduled for Tuesday and would have included Sally Yates, former CIA director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.
