FBI Going Further Back Than Originally Thought In Trump-Russia Investigation: Report
Scope of FBI Trump-Russia investigation much larger than originally thought; officials probing whether Trump associates helped Russian agents hack DNC.
The FBI is investigating whether Trump or his associates had a role in helping Russian intelligence carry out the cyberattacks on the Democratic National Committee and others in March of 2016, according to a new report.
CBS News reports that “This new information suggests that the FBI is going back further than originally reported to determine the extent of possible coordination.”
“Sources say investigators are probing whether an individual or individuals connected to the campaign intentionally or unwittingly helped the Russians breach Democratic Party targets,” the CBS News report noted.
And in case you thought the FBI is nearing the end of their investigation, you’d be wrong. As CBS notes, “sources say the FBI’s investigation is nowhere near over. It involves dozens of agents in Washington, New York and London. The NSA and CIA are also gathering intelligence from inside Russia.”
