O’Reilly And Fox News Have Paid Out Millions In Sexual Harassment and Abuse Settlements
Fox News and Bill O’Reilly have paid out about $13 million over the years to settle at least five sexual harassment and verbal abuse claims against O’Reilly.
According to a new report by the The New York Times, Fox New has paid out millions over the years to settle cases levied against their star host.
“An investigation by The New York Times has found a total of five women who have received payouts from either Mr. O’Reilly or the company in exchange for agreeing to not pursue litigation or speak about their accusations against him. The agreements totaled about $13 million,” The Times noted.
The creepy and abusive behavior ranged from unwanted advances and lewd comments to phone calls “in which it sounded as if Mr. O’Reilly was masturbating, according to documents and interviews.”
O’Reilly’s show has been a big financial success for Fox News over the nearly two decades he’s been on the air and, according to The New York Times report, it seems the network is willing to pay out settlements to mask over O’Reilly’s disturbing and abusive behavior.
And in addition to the five known cases, the Times found at least “two other women have spoken of inappropriate behavior by the host.”
The revelations about Bill O’Reilly come after a disturbingly similar scandal rocked Fox News when it came to light that longtime Fox News chief Roger Ailes had sexually harassed and abused employees and Fox News contributors. The scandal eventually led to Ailes being forced out of the network and Fox News reportedly spent millions to settle those cases.
