Democrat Jon Ossoff Has Major Lead In Georgia Congressional Race: Poll
Ossoff has a commanding lead over all Republicans in the race to fill Tom Price’s Congressional seat.
In a Survey USA poll conducted by Atlanta television stations 11Alive, Jon Ossoff leads with 43 percent among likely voters. The next three candidates combined – all Republicans – only garner 36 percent.
Karen Handel receives 15 percent support, Bob Gray gets 14 percent and Dan Moody comes in at 7 percent to round out the top four.
All other candidates make up 15% and there is currently 7 percent undecided.
The special election is being held on April 18 and, if needed, there will be a runoff on June 20.
Ossoff would need to get above 50 percent in the April 18 special election to avoid a runoff.
Key numbers from the poll:
- Ossoff receives 71% support from younger voters between the ages of 18 and 34
- 52 percent of Ossoff supporters said they have already voted, compared with 15 percent for Handel and 14 percent for Gray.
- 40 percent of independents support Ossoff, while 14 percent go for Handel, 11 percent for Gray and 7 percent for Moody.
About the poll:
“11Alive commissioned the scientific poll with SurveyUSA. 900 registered voters were interviewed between 3/27/17 and 4/2/17. The poll was conducted 100% by telephone (68% landline, 32% cell phone). Of the 900 registered voters, 503 were determined by SurveyUSA to have already voted or likely to do so before the deadline.”
