Bernie Sanders Issues Dire Warning About Trump Airstrikes
Senator Bernie Sanders warned that Donald Trump’s airstrikes could lead to the U.S. being dragged into another Middle East quagmire.
In response to Donald Trump’s missile strikes in Syria, Senator Bernie Sanders is raising his skepticism about the effectiveness and concerns about potentially getting dragged into a years-long war.
“I’m deeply concerned that these strikes could lead to the United States once again being dragged back into the quagmire of long-term military engagement in the Middle East,” Sanders said in a statement.
And Sanders also said that after the wars in Iraq and Afganistan, Americans know “that it’s easier to get into a war than get out of one.”
Sanders also suggested that Donald Trump’s airstrikes may not have been legal. Sanders said on Twitter, “As the Constitution requires, the president must come to Congress to authorize any further use of force against the Assad regime.”

He also called on Trump to explain the intentions of the military escalation saying, “Trump must explain what this military escalation is intended to achieve and how it fits into the broader goal of a political solution.”
