After a significant public outcry, the State Department was forced to remove a website post that promoting Donald Trump’s private business in Florida. The Trump administration came under heavy criticism Monday for using the taxpayer money to promote Donald Trump’s private resort business.

By the end of the day, the State Department had removed the page from its website.

CNN’s Jake Tapper called it a “shameless” promotion.

“Well, they’re just shamelessly promoting his products on U.S. government, taxpayer-financed websites. And we know that Mar-a-Lago has benefited from President Trump being elected president,” he said on Monday.

The blog post referred to Mar-a-Lago as the “Winter White House.”

“The intention of the article was to inform the public about where the President has been hosting world leaders,” the web page now reads. “We regret any misperception and have removed the post.”

Ethics groups continue to note the myriad conflicts of interest that Donald Trump has brought with him the White House, including his private resort in Florida.

Oregon Senator Ron Wyden asked, “Yes, I am curious @StateDept. Why are taxpayer $$ promoting the President’s private country club?”
