WATCH: John Oliver Destroys Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner
John Oliver threw cold water on the idea that Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kusner are a moderating influence on him.
“Is Ivanka really the moderating influence that people claim? And what in Jared’s background justifies such a gigantic White House portfolio?” Oliver asked.
Oliver played a clip of Ivanka Trump interview with CBS News’ where she assured the country, “My father agrees with me on so many issues, and where he doesn’t, he knows where I stand.” Ivanka’s response was that people we won’t know what her contributions are on Donald Trump.
“Well, that’s convenient!” Oliver shouted. “So we should just give her credit when good stuff happens, and blame others when bad stuff happens? That’s not a job description of a political adviser, that’s a description of an Old Testament God. And that answer there enables you to project whatever you want onto her based on secondhand rumors and assumptions.”
Oliver also slammed Ivanka’s childcare proposal which would leave many low-income families with only $10 a year for childcare. To which Oliver responded that the only way a parent could use $10 for child care is with a padlock.
