White House Refusing To Hand Over Flynn Documents To House Oversight Committee
The Trump administration is refusing to provide congressional investigators with key documents relating to their investigation into Michael Flynn’s connections to Russia and payments he received from the Russian government.
Flynn failed to disclose payment received from Russian companies when he was applying for his security clearance when joining the Trump administration.
The news that the Trump administration is refusing to provide the documents came from a press conference held by the heads of the House Oversight Committee Congressman Elijah Cummings and Congressman Jason Chaffetz on Tuesday.
“Despite all of these very troubling developments…we received a response from the White House refusing to provide any of the documents we requested,” Cummings told reporters Tuesday.
“So we received no internal documents relating to what General Flynn reported to the White House when they vetted him to become National Security Adviser, and we received no documents relating to his termination as National Security Adviser for concealing his discussion with the Russian ambassador.”
That Congressmen announced that Flynn likely broke the law by failing to disclose the foreign payments. “I see no data to support the notion that Gen. Flynn complied with the law,” Chaffetz told reporters.
The House Intelligence Committee is conducting an investigation into the links between the Trump campaign and Russia. The Senate Intel Committee is also conducting an investigation.
