Donald Trump Makes Unprecedented Threat On Judicial Branch
Trump challenges Constitution’s separation of powers with a threat to break up the 9th Circuit Court.
Donald Trump said Wednesday that he is considering breaking up the 9th Circuit Court. Trump’s threat comes after a federal district court judge blocked his order to withhold funding from sanctuary cities.
During an interview with the Washington Examiner, Donald Trump said “there are many people who want to break up the 9th Circuit. It’s outrageous.”
Trump, of course, is mistaken that the federal judge who ruled against him yesterday on his sanctuary cities order being from the 9th Circuit. He is not.
Donald Trump has consistently attacked judges he doesn’t like often questioning their legitimacy.
“I mean, the language on the ban, it reads so easy that a reasonably good student in the first grade will fully understand it. And they don’t even mention the words in their rejection on the ban,” Trump said.
Trump also accused liberals of “judge shopping. “You see judge shopping, or what’s gone on with these people, they immediately run to the 9th Circuit,” Trump said. “It’s got close to an 80 percent reversal period, and what’s going on in the 9th Circuit is a shame.”
Donald Trump’s language about the judicial branch has continued to sound more like a dictator than a United States President.
