Jon Ossoff Leading Republican Karen Handel By One Point In New Poll
Ossoff holds a small lead in tight Georgia Congressional race.
Democrat Jon Ossoff is leading Republican Karen Handel by just point according to a new poll. Ossoff and his opponent are in a dead heat in the special election runoff for the Georgia House seat vacated by Tom Price.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a poll conducted by Anzalone Liszt Grove Research shows Ossoff at 48 percent and Republican Karen Handel at 47 percent.
Ossoff’s campaign manager Keenan Pontoni said about the poll, “Four months ago, nobody expected us to even break 40 percent.” “Now, after our historic first-place finish on April 18th and this encouraging poll, we’re seeing the results of our community’s massive outreach efforts, and with our plans to ramp up those efforts even more, our campaign is well-positioned to win on June 20th.”
Ossoff came in first place in last month’s primary, which included 18 candidates but just missed the 50 percent threshold to win outright and avoid a runoff.
The poll was conducted April 23–26 and surveyed 590 likely voters. The poll margin of error of 4 percentage points.
