After Disastrous Day About Russia, Trump Tries To Change Subject By Suggesting More Troops To Afghanistan
The Trump administration is trying to distract you from Russia and Flynn.
Don’t be fooled by the Washington Post story that Donald Trump is considering sending thousands of American troops to Afghanistan. While it is certainly important news when the president sends troops to combat, the timing of this news story is very suspicious.
Monday was a disastrous day for the Trump White House with the Russia scandal dominating the headlines and Senate testimony from Sally Yates contradicting important parts of the administration’s talking points on Flynn.
So it is no surprise that Trump team is trying to change the subject – a media tactic they are very good at.
Late Monday a news story appeared on WashingtonPost.com noting that Trump is considering a significant troop increase in Afghanistan. The decision is not imminent, in fact, the Washington Post noted, “Trump is expected to make a final call on the strategy before a May 25 NATO summit in Brussels that he plans to attend.”
So why does this story suddenly appear during one of Trump’s worst press days? Because Trump team learned pretty scary lessons from their Syria bombing stunt. A clear patterned has emerged – every time Trump finds himself in domestic trouble, Trump finds himself a foreign policy crisis to change the subject.
