Comey Asked For ‘Significant Increase’ In Funding For Russia Probe Days Before Trump Fired Him
Donald Trump fired the FBI Director just days after he “asked the Justice Department for a significant increase in money and personnel” for Russia investigation.
Now fired FBI Director James Comey asked for a significant increase in funding and personnel from the Department of Justice just days before Donald Trump fired him.
According to a new report by the New York Times, “Mr. Comey asked for the resources during a meeting last week with Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general who wrote the Justice Department’s memo that was used to justify the firing of the F.B.I. director this week.”
The Times also notes that following the request for additional resources James Comey then briefed Congress on the matter.
In their report, the New York Times cites three sources familiar with the matter saying the former FBI Director “asked the Justice Department for a significant increase in money and personnel for the bureau’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the presidential election”
The Washington Post is also reporting that Comey requested additional resources last week.
