Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Now At Near-Record Low: Poll
The American people have lost confidence in Donald Trump.
According to a new poll released Wednesday Donald Trump’s job approval rating has dropped back down to a near-record low.
Only 36 percent of Americans approve of Donald Trump’s job performance as president. Additionally, the poll found that 58 percent disapprove of the job Trump is doing, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll.
The new poll represents a four point drop in job approval from an April 19 poll by Quinnipiac. An earlier poll by the same organization on April 4 found 35 percent approval for Trump meaning that the 36 percent approval in the new poll is statistically speaking equivalent to a record low.
“The president is losing support among independent voters and groups which are important parts of his base,” Quinnipiac noted.
Here are several other qualities that the poll measured:
- 61 percent say that Trump is not honest, compared to 58 percent April 19
- 66 percent of Americans think that Trump is not level-headed, which is up from 63 percent last month
- 59 percent say that Donald Trump does not care about average Americans
- 56 percent think that Donald Trump does not have good leadership skills
“There is no way to spin or sugarcoat these sagging numbers,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
“The erosion of white men, white voters without college degrees and independent voters, the declaration by voters that President Donald Trump’s first 100 days were mainly a failure and deepening concerns about Trump’s honesty, intelligence and level headedness are red flags that the administration simply can’t brush away,” Malloy added.
Additionally, 58 percent of Americans say Trump’s first 100 days in office have been “mainly a failure.”
