Support For The Republican Health Bill Is Dropping Fast: Poll

Voter support of the GOP Obamacare bill has dropped significantly since House Republicans passed the bill last week.

The already unpopular Republican health care bill just got more unpopular according to a new poll.

Republicans passed their disastrous Obamacare repeal bill out of the House of Representatives last week and the Senate has begun to work on their own version but the new poll throws cold water on the GOP repeal effort.

According to the new Politico/Morning Consult poll, just 38 percent of voters approve of the Republican health care bill. That is down significantly from the previous low of 42 from last week before House Republicans passed the bill.

Very few voters believe that if the GOP bill is enacted into law that the country’s health care system would get better by increasing coverage, improving the quality of care or decreasing costs.

Here is how the pollster described it: “These latest polling numbers on the American Health Care Act could spell trouble for Republicans,” said Kyle Dropp, Morning Consult’s chief research office. “There is a notable enthusiasm gap: 29 percent strongly oppose the bill, but only 13 percent strongly support it. Moreover, we saw the number of Republican voters who strongly support the bill drop from 36 percent last week to 27 percent this week.”

The poll was conducted May 4-6. The poll surveyed 1,996 registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
