Trump Fired Comey Because of the Russia Investigation: New Report

A source close to former FBI Director James Comey says that Donald Trump fired Comey because of the Russia investigation.

According to a new report by CNN, the source close to Comey says there are two reasons for the firing: First, “Comey never provided the President with any assurance of personal loyalty,” and second, “the fact that the FBI’s investigation into possible Trump team collusion with Russia in the 2016 election was accelerating.”

The new report from CNN contradicts the already flimsy story that the White House has put forth about why Trump decided to fire Comey. The report notes that “mounting evidence suggests Comey was actually fired because of the Russian investigation.”

It was reported Wednesday that just days ago, James Comey asked the Justice Department for more money and personnel for the Russia investigation.

The new report also comes one day after we find out that at least one grand jury has been empaneled in the Russia investigation.
