PSenate Democrats Demand Investigation Into Trump’s Firing Of Comey

Democrats want an investigation into political interference by Trump in Russia probe.

On Friday, four Senate Democrats asked the Justice Department’s inspector general to open an investigation into “political interference with the FBI’s investigation into” by Donald Trump into the investigation of collusion between Trump associates and Russia.

According to Politico, “Sens. Gary Peters (D-Mich.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Tom Carper (D-Del.) and Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) specifically asked the watchdog to look into ‘the provision of resources for the investigation, including efforts by the President and Attorney General to allocate resources based on unsubstantiated claims of wiretapping.'”

The report went on to say that Democrats also asked the inspector general to the decisions by the White House or Department of Justice “fell outside regular protocol or constituted political inference in an ongoing investigation, including whether or not Mr. Comey informed the President ‘on three separate occasions’ that he was not under investigation.”
