Senate Intel Committee Asks Comey To Testify Publicly
Looking like James Comey is going to tell his story.
The Senate Intelligence Committee has invited former FBI Director to testify publically. The request comes just hours after it was revealed that Donald Trump pressed Comey to end the FBI Investigation into Michael Flynn.
Trump abruptly fired James Comey on May 9, following public testimony from Comey that the FBI was actively investigating collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Committee Chairman Republican Richard Burr and ranking member Democrat Mark Warner on Wednesday said they sent a letter to Comey asking him to testify during a public hearing as well as meet with members in a closed-door briefing.
“I hope he’ll accept our invitation. I believe he will,” Warner told reporters.
Senator Lindsey Graham also announced Tuesday that he is going to invite James Comey to testify publically in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Senator Graham said to reporters Tuesday, “I’ve asked Comey to come before the Judiciary Committee to tell his side of the story.”
“I think it would be good for him if he did. It would be good for the country.”
