Senate Just Demanded White House Turn Over Comey Tapes, Records

The Comey firing scandal is heating up, bigly!

The Senate’s Judiciary Committee on Wednesday requested that the White House and FBI turn over any memos from former FBI director James Comey or any recordings of his conversations with Donald Trump.

Republican Senator Chuck Grassley and Democrat Dianne Feinstein, the ranking members on the committee, as well as Senators Lindsey Graham and Sheldon Whitehouse sent a letter to Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe and White House counsel Donald McGahn on Wednesday.

The senators are demanding any Comey memos from his investigation into Russia’s election meddling as well as the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server including top administration officials from the Trump and Obama White Houses.

The senators are also asking White House Counsel Don McGahn to hand over any recordings tied to “the FBI’s investigation of alleged ties between President Trump’s associates and Russia, or the Clinton email investigation, including all audio recordings, transcripts, notes, summaries, and memoranda.”

They added that if the recordings have already been archived, in compliance with federal law, they “make the relevant personnel there aware of the request and authorize them to release the records to the Committee.”
