REPORT: FBI Warned GOP Rep That Russians Spies Were Recruiting Him in 2012
According to a report by The New York Times, in 2012 authorities warned California Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher about being recruited by the Russians as an “agent of influence.”
Rohrabacher told The Times on Thursday that his meeting with the FBI had focused on his contact with a member of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“They were telling me he had something to do with some kind of Russian intelligence,” Rohrabacher commented. According to the representative, the Russians “looked at me as someone who could be influenced.”
Rohrabacher has opposed aggressive tactics towards Russia. He was previously against anti-Russian sanctions and claims to have lost a drunken arm-wrestling match with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
To make matters worse for the California Congressman, Rohrabacher is one of Trump’s biggest allies. Earlier this week, it was

McCarthy has tried to play it off as a joke, but learning that Russian spies targeted Rohrabacher makes everything a little less funny.
