Jon Ossoff Leads Republican By 7 Points In New Poll

New Poll Has Good News For Democrats.

According to a new poll, Democrat Jon Ossoff is leading Republican Karen Handel by 7 points in the race for Georgia’s 6th District House seat.

Fifty-one percent of likely and actual voters in Georgia say they would vote for Ossoff if the election were held today while forty-four percent say they would vote for Handel, while 6 percent are undecided, according to a SurveyUSA survey that was released Monday.

The runoff election is being held on June 20 after Ossoff won the primary by a large margin but fell just short of the 50 percent mark needed to win the seat.

Donald Trump won the district narrowly but just 1.6 percent over Hilary Clinton and Democrats have targeted the district as a possible early flip in the race to win back the House in 2018.

The SurveyUSA poll also found that Ossoff’s residence outside the district is not an issue for voters. Fifty-one percent say the location is “not an issue,” while 21 percent call it a “minor issue” and 27 percent call it a “major issue.” Another 2 percent are unsure.

About the poll: SurveyUSA conducted its latest survey of 549 likely and actual voters in Georgia via cell and landline telephone interviews from May 16-22. It has a 4.3 percent margin of error.
