Senate Intel Committee Turning Up The Heat On Flynn

UPDATE: During a press conference on Tuesday afternoon the heads of the Senate Intel Committee announced they will issue new subpoenas to Michael Flynn’s business to get the documents that he is refusing to hand over.

In addition, Republican Senator Richard Burr noted that all option are on the table, including holding Flynn in contempt of Congress.

According to a new report, the Senate Intelligence Committee will be taking new actions to force Donald Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn to comply with their subpoena.

During an interview, Chairman Richard Burr said the committee plans to step up pressure on Flynn.

“Probably right before the meeting we’ll sign off on everything and be in a situation whether we’re ready to drop a notification or verbally share” the decision, Burr said.

Flynn was served a subpoena to turn over documents regarding his contacts with Russian officials by the Senate Intel Committee. Flynn responded Monday by invoking the Fifth Amendment.

However, the committee is not accepting Flynn’s response. The Intel Committee is considering forcing Flynn to appear before the panel and even hold Flynn in contempt of congress as a means of forcing him to turn over the documents.

Senator Warner, the ranking Democrat on the Intel Committee, said “Flynn tried to plead the Fifth. We don’t believe that you can take a blanket immunity on the Fifth in terms of documents.”
