CBO: Low-Income Elderly Americans Could See Premiums Go Up 800 Percent
The Republican health care bill passed by House Republicans would increase insurance premiums for elderly, low-income Americans by up to 800 percent.
The issue was first noted by Vox’s Sarah Kliff on Twitter.
CBO estimates that in states requesting AHCA waivers, premiums for low-income elderly enrollees would go up 800 percent. That is not a typo. pic.twitter.com/W7QC4z9UUS

The Congressional Budget Office released its updated analysis on the Republican health care bill and found that if signed into law, 23 million Americans would lose insurance.
In fact, 14 million would lose insurance by 2017.
Even before the CBO released its analysis Senate Republicans began to distance themselves from the House bill.
CBO also found that out-of-pocket spending on maternity, mental health and substance abuse care could see increases by thousands for states using waivers.
